One of the great things about retractable screens from Phantom is they need minimal maintenance. Clients should keep their Phantom screen retracted when not in use. This is especially important in the winter season. Since the screens are retracted when not in use, they are protected from the elements during wet and cold months. This simple step will add years to the life of your mesh.
We recommend giving the Phantom a good spring cleaning after the winter season. It is also suggested that the tracks are cleaned and lubricated once a month during the summer season. This light maintenance will keep the screen running smoothly and will help keep your mesh in good condition.
We provide service on all of our products, if you prefer we can be onsite to do a full service for you to set you up for the summer season.
Although Phantom screens are very durable, accidents do occasionally happen. The mesh can be replaced and most of the parts can be repaired or replaced. Just give us a call and we’ll make sure the screen is up and running again very quickly. The tracks should always be clear of dust and debris. Vacuuming or sweeping the tracks will help remove any pieces that would interfere with the function of the screen (and cause damage over time). The tracks can be wiped down with a damp cloth, using water or a non-abrasive household cleaner.
After the tracks are clean and dry, applying the silicone spray is critical. The silicone spray reduces friction and allows the slide bar to glide smoothly in the track. If you have run out of spray or did not purchase a can at the time of installation, Home Depot carries a brand called Jig-A-Loo and it costs about $8 a can.
If your mesh has gotten dusty, you can clean the screen material with mild detergent and water. Gently wipe the mesh and allow it to stay open until the mesh is completely dry.
